Installation at Designers’ Saturday

Furniture’s Songs, 2010

Teo Jakob, Switzerland

For Teo Jakobs' 60th anniversary Stephan Huerlemann transformed their furniture into musical instruments played on by professional musicians.

On the occasion of the company’s 60th anniversary, the furniture seller Teo Jakob is offered ‘carte blanche’ at Designers’ Saturday and allowed to exhibit at the event even though they are not producers. In the installation, conceived of by Stephan Hürlemann, objects of furniture are repurposed so they can be used as musical instruments. Three professional musicians bring forth unexpected sounds from furnishings, lights and living accessories, combining them to create a live sound installation.
