Use, don’t own: Talky is now available to rent.
«Own less, use more» – for Stephan Hürlemann, this principle is a key guideline on the path toward a more sustainable furniture industry.
Following this philosophy, he considers it a forward-looking step that his design Talky has been available for rent through Novu Office since November 2022.
Countless office furniture pieces are either discarded after a relatively short period of use or end up forgotten in the vast storage facilities of large corporations. At the same time, more and more furniture is being produced. In an era that demands resource conservation and the reduction of CO₂ emissions, this situation is far from sustainable.
The furniture industry must reinvent itself — moving away from the urge to produce as much as possible and towards offering smart models that serve people better and for longer.
Talky Room was designed in 2021 by Stephan Hürlemann and Erich Keller AG as a multi-life product. The modular box, available in different sizes, can be adapted both inside and out to suit various needs. It is also designed for repairability and can easily be dismantled in one place and reassembled in another.
With its inclusion in the catalogue of the Zurich-based start-up Novu Office, which has been offering attractive circular rental concepts for modern work environments since 2020, Talky Room has become part of a reuse system — not only in design but also in distribution.
