Ventura, relaunch of the v-matic EGO, 2019

Ventura, United Kingdom

„Simplicity in design isn’t just about removing the visually superflous elements. It’s about creating a product to last. One that doesn’t need to ebb and flow with ever-changing trends or fashions.“ Stephan Hürlemann about the v-matic EGO

In 2016, ventura decided to relaunch the v-matic EGO by Hannes Wettstein (1958–2008). Since there was hardly any plans, components or documentation of the watch from 1994 available, Stephan Hürlemann, the former business partner of Wettstein, was asked to accompany the reconstruction.

He collected all the available information about the v-matic EGO, spending numerous hours at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich where the ventura Archives are located. Stephan Hürlemann and ventura meticulously reconstructed every component of the watch, and did so with the same high quality standards that Wettstein and ventura followed 25 years ago. Three years later, ventura celebrates the return of this iconic watch.

In the new edition v-matic EGO is also available with a black dial for the first time.
